Over the last two months, there have been three cases of identity theft reported amongst Wartburg/Wells Fargo card holders. Head of Wartburg Security, John Meyers, has been warning card holders to be aware of the recent thefts and to make sure that they monitor their accounts. Meyers said in all three reported cases that the purchases were under $100 and were caught early enough before any serious damage could be done. The best advice Meyers gave is that cardholders need to be careful about who they give their information to.
“Credit cards and debit cards, protect them like they’re money. Be careful who you give the numbers to, and if you suspect that your card has been compromised, report it to the credit card company immediately,” says Meyers.
