The No. 11 ranked Wartburg women’s cross country team took second at their annual Dan Huston Invitational Saturday.

The Knights scored 59 points, 32 more than champion Augustana (S.D.), ranked No. 1 in Division II, and ten points ahead of third-place Carleton in the seven-team field.

Alana Enabnit led Wartburg with her second-place finish in a time of 21:45, eight seconds behind Augustana’s Runa Falch.

“I’m pretty happy with it,” Enabnit said of her individual performance. “Last week at Griak I had a pretty disappointing performance but today I feel like I listened to my coach and I finished.”

The weather was not ideal for Saturday’s race with temperatures in the low 40’s along with high winds.

“I’m kind of a cold wimp but I just tried to focus on glorifying God the entire race and keep my mind off the weather and elements and everything,” Enabnit said.

Haddie Vawter placed seventh in 22:33, Erin Sawyers was 10th in 22:48 and Kirsten Youngberg took 19th in 23:16. Lauren Mapes ran a time of 23:21, good for 21st place.

Sam Reed was the top Knight finisher, taking 12th with a time of 25:38 while Bennett Moser was 16th in 26:04.

Parker Comentino and Chase Moser finished with identical 26:19 times, placing 22nd and 23rd respectively.

Chris Huinker rounded out the team scoring with his 26th place finish in a time of 26:35.

The cross country teams have their last regular season meet of the season this Saturday at Wisconsin-La Crosse.
