Students here at Wartburg received the chance to make a difference last week through the power of a vote.
Through the efforts of the Wartburg Democrats and the Student Senate Political Action Committee (PAC) early satellite voting took place last Wednesday and Thursday in the Lyceum. This was not the first year that the voting took place here on campus.
In 2008 the voter turnout was only around 40 people. This year, however, there were 421 voters.
PAC Advisor Adam Yotter said it is sometimes hard for students to vote without these opportunities.
“With them being from out of state or from a different county in their state it makes it very hard to prove their residency and what not,” said Yotter. “But, this opportunity being so far from the actual election day makes it really easy for college students and Wartburg students to come out and vote.”
