Halloween safety

With kids and parents out and about on Halloween night, Officer Ryan Wegner of the Waverly Police Department discussed safety tips when it comes to trick-or-treating.

“There’s a lot of kids out and then you have to worry about vehicle traffic as well,” said Officer Wegner. “I think the totality of the whole night with so much foot traffic, so much traffic in town as far as vehicles go, just making sure everyone’s safe.”

Officer Wegner says it’s important for both trick-or-treaters and drivers to be aware of their surroundings. He advises trick-or-treaters to wear a reflective costume of have reflective objects with them in order to ensure visibility for the drivers at night.
