Alyssa Hewitt’s first collegiate hat trick has earned her Iowa Conference recognition.
The league office announced Monday that the freshman forward is the IIAC Female Athlete of the Week and women’s soccer offensive player of the week.
Hewitt scored all three goals as Wartburg snapped a three-match losing streak Saturday with a 3-0 win over Coe.
One of the key cogs in a Wartburg football defense that shut out Coe Saturday is the Iowa Conference defensive player of the week.
Cole Hinders recorded a season-high eight tackles (five solo) and two sacks as the seventh-ranked Knights remained unbeaten with a 43-0 win. It was the first time Coe had been shut out in the 26-year history of Clark Field.
Luther soccer’s Jon Gednalske is the IIAC Male Athlete of the Week after notching game-winning goals in a 2-1 overtime win over Wis.-Platteville and 3-0 victory over Buena Vista last week.
