A 0-1-1 week including a 3-1 loss Saturday to No. 8 Loras has dropped Wartburg (10-3-4) 10 spots in the NSCAA coaches poll to No. 23.
Loras (14-2-1) remained No. 8 in the poll, while Luther (13-2-0), whose only two losses are to the Duhawks and Knights, moved up six spots to No. 14.
Wartburg and Luther could meet in the Iowa Conference semifinals next Wednesday in Waverly, while Loras is the favorite to await the winner Saturday in the championship.
The top four of Messiah (15-0-1), Trinity (Texas) (17-1-0), Brandeis (14-1-0) and Oneonta State (15-0-2) did not change, while Franklin and Marshall (14-0-1) and Kenyon (13-1-1) flipped at Nos. 5 and 6.
Wartburg is no longer receiving votes in the d3soccer.com top 25, where Loras is ranked No. 8 and Luther is No. 16. That top five is unchanged, featuring Messiah, Franklin and Marshall, Trinity (Texas), Oneonta State and Brandeis.
Wartburg dropped behind Luther and stayed behind No. 1 Loras in the latest NSCAA North Region poll, but the Knights are rated No. 2 in the first NCAA North Region rankings, the official set used in determining the NCAA tournament field and pairings.
Loras is ranked No. 1, while Luther is not ranked. Wartburg beat Luther 2-1 Oct. 1.
The remaining seven ranked teams are Wis.-Whitewater (10-3-3), St. Olaf (11-3-2), Gustavus Adolphus (11-4-1), Wis.-Oshkosh (12-5-1) and St. John’s (9-6-0).
The first NCAA North Region women’s rankings feature Lake Forest (17-0-0) in the No. 1 spot, followed by Wis.-Whitewater (16-2-0), St. Benedict (13-3-0), Dubuque (14-4-0), Carleton (9-4-2), Concordia-Moorhead (11-3-2), Augsburg (12-4-0) and Loras (10-7-0), which Wartburg defeated 3-0 Saturday.
