Men’s soccer returns experienced team

he men’s soccer team is coming off an 8-10-1 season, including a fifth-place finish (4-4) in the IIAC, but Wartburg loses just three seniors from that squad.

Matt Cunard, Nate Gottsacker and David Holte will be the only Knights not returning to the team in 2012 due to graduation.

Senior midfielder Brandon Cook and junior defender Bob Brown were both named first-team all-conference in 2011 and will be expected to be the top players for the Knights once again in 2012.

Cook was second on the team last year with five goals. He also had two assists. Brown tied for first on the team with Dan Nadeau, a sophomore this year, with four assists.

Also returning for Wartburg is second-team all-IIAC forward Austin Otto who led the team with nine goals last season.

Senior defender Kris Krohn will join Brown on the back line after being tabbed to the honorable mention all-conference team and scoring four goals last season, good for third on the team.
