The Wartburg Track and Field teams finished their seasons at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, May 21.
The women’s team with in 17th place with an overall score of 14 while the lone men’s team representative, Eli Kaczinski, finished in 12th place in the 10,000 meter.
Wartburg had three events earn All-American honors during Saturday’s finals.
Senior Ashlyn Bagge finished in sixth place in the 5,000 meter run. She is the Knights’ first All-American in the event since 2012. Bagge was an All-American at the NCAA Championships for Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track during her senior year.
For the 13th straight year, the 4×100 team from Wartburg earned All-American status. This year’s 3rd place team consisted of Dailen Folkedahl, Tessa Helmle, Becca Cherry and Teylor Jones. This was the second career All-American finish for both Cherry and Jones in this event.
Rounding out Wartburg’s All-Americans was the 4×400 relay team of Folkedahl, Jones, Helmle and Betsy Duehr that finished 7th. This is the 13th time in 14 years this event has ended in All-American status for the Knights and it is the 2nd time in this event for Duehr and Folkedahl.
