Music filled Regent’s Park today as the Communication Arts Department held their first Game Day tailgate. The tailgate occurred before the Wartburg v. Bethel game that was broadcast live by Wartburg Television.
Emily Layton, Tower Sports Promotion Executive was in charge of planning and organizing the event.
She said the idea came from Taylor Yezek, Tower co-CEO.
“I thought it was a great idea, so I jumped on board and took control,” Layton said.
Layton said this was an opportunity for all the student media organizations to work together as well.
Wartburg’s radio station, KWAR, broadcast a remote from the park with one of their staff members, Eric Hilpert on site.
Valentina Jordan was one of the Wartburg students who attended the tailgate. she said she came because it was seemed like a new and unique event.
“I like to encourage the different events I think would be nice if more students would come and support fellow organizations,” Jordan said.
Layton said she thought this was a great turn out for the first run and she hopes the Wartburg Communication Arts Game Day Tailgate turns into an annual event.
“I think if we do it again we are going to have to have other things here to get students here. We are going to have to have activities going on or more drawings or food maybe to get students here,” Layton said.
