Wartburg goes .500 in Oshkosh

Wartburg split two matches again Saturday at Wis.-Oshkosh’s volleyball tournament to finish the weekend 2-2.

No. 14 Carthage beat the Knights in four sets in the first match of the day, 25-17, 18-25, 25-15, 25-14.

Offense was not either team’s specialty. Carthage hit .127, but Wartburg was even worse at .084.

Claire Willenbring led the Knights with seven kills while Rachel Fields paced the Lady Reds, who were upset by Loras on Friday, with 11.

Emma Harmeyer had a team-high 13 assists and 12 digs for Wartburg.

The Knights closed out the tournament in style with a four-set win over the host, 15-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-18.

Wartburg got off to a slow start with a .167 hitting percentage and allowing the Titans to hit .357. But Wis.-Oshkosh never hit better than .125 in the final three sets.

The Knights trailed 15-11 in set two before rallying.

Willenbring led the way with 13 kills. She and Bailey Wilson, who had nine kills in the final match, were named to the all-tournament team.

Harmeyer again had team-highs in assists and digs with 27 and 12.
