Wartburg still alive in NCAA regional

Wartburg shutout Westminster College 8-0 Thursday to keep from being eliminated in the NCAA Regional baseball tournament.

The game was scoreless until the sixth when sophomore Zach Hovick drove in seniors Milton Croes and Tanner Johnson to take a 2-0 lead.

The Knights added to their margin in the seventh with four runs that included three doubles to make the score 6-0.

In the ninth, Johnson doubled to score senior Ryan Kemp and then Croes hit his third double of the game down the first base line to score Johnson. Croes tied the single game NCAA mark set by Brian Greiner against Edgewood on May 22, 2005.

Wartburg will face Washington University-St. Louis Friday at 3:30 p.m.
