Wartburg couldn’t win a third consecutive Iowa Conference volleyball championship this season, but it did feature the league’s Most Valuable Player for a third straight year.
Senior middle hitter Bailey Wilson was named the IIAC MVP Friday, following former Wartburg setter Ramey Sieck’sMVP awards the last two seasons.
Wilson led the Iowa Conference with a .366 hitting percentage. She averaged 3.11 kills per set and had the most blocks (111) of any IIAC player.
The West Des Moines native finished her career with the best hitting percentage (.351) in program history, ranking fifth in blocks (426) and seventh in kills (1,268).
Wartburg junior middle hitter Kaity Brouwer and junior libero Jamie Farley joined Wilson, a three-time first-team honoree, on the all-conference team. Sophomore outside hitter Claire Willenbring received honorable mention.
Regular season champion Coe had a league-high four players on the first team.
Buena Vista’s Jade Schaap, who led the conference with 4.07 kills per set, was honored as the Freshman of the Year, following BV’s Maddie Bardole last season.
Lori Slight, the Beavers’ third-year head coach, received Coach of the Year honors for leading the team to its first IIAC championship appearance since 2003, eliminating Wartburg in Thursday night’s semifinals.
