Women’s soccer earns another shutout

Wartburg’s women’s soccer team wrapped up the regular season Tuesday night with a 3-0 shutout win over Buena Vista.

The first goal came in the 11th minute when Olivia Jansen scored off of an assist from Morgan Neuendorf.

Kerri Golinghorst put up the next goal up for the Knights five minutes before the end of the first half.

The final goal of the game came from Madison Astgen off of an assist from Golinghorst.

The Knights maintained control through the majority of the game. Wartburg took 32 shots compared to BV’s five shots. Seventeen of those 32 shots were on goal. Only two of BV’s shots were on goal.

Both Beth Crow and Katie Reinhardt had one save in the game.

This was Wartburg’s eighth shutout win of the season.

Buena Vista ended their season 3-12-3 overall and 0-6-1 in conference play, landing them second to last in the conference standings, just missing out on postseason play.

Wartburg finishes the regular season 9-5-4, 4-2-1, earning them the fourth spot in the Iowa Conference standings. This means the Knights will host No. 5 seed Coe Saturday at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Iowa Conference tournament.
