Women’s tennis takes down Loras, competes at IIAC individuals

The Wartburg women’s tennis team (9-3, 5-2) faced last IIAC opponent Loras (1-13, 0-7) Wednesday, winning 8-1.

Elizabeth Dickhut of Loras defeated Jennifer Dallenbach, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Melissa Davis of Wartburg faced Est Mungai at No. 2 singles and won 6-0, 6-0.

For doubles the No. 1 team of Davis/Evans defeated Mungai/Dickhut by a score of 8-6. At No. 2 doubles, Michelle Mackenzie and Jennifer Dallenbach defeated Sarah Alt and Rachel Weglarz, 8-1.

Wartburg also travelled to Cedar Rapids this Saturday to compete in the IIAC Individual Championship.

In Flight A singles, Melissa Davis won her first match 3-6, 6-4, 10-2 against Luther’s Katy Lindstrom but then fell 6-4 6-4 to Amy Sebastian of Coe in the second round.

Claire Evans fell 5-7, 6-2 and 10-8 to Adriana DePaolis of Luther and Katherine Ross was defeated by Luther’s Maggie Helms, 6-1, 6-2 iin the opening round.

Jennifer Dallenbach received a bye to the second round but lost, 6-1, 6-2 to Lola White-Baer of Luther.

In Flight A doubles, Evans/Davis fell 8-2 and the team of Dallenbach/McKenzie fell 9-7 in the first round.

In Flight B doubles, the team of Heying/Seeburg fell 8-0 but Jensen/Ross won their first match 8-0 and their second 8-2. Jensen/ross also won their quarterfinal match, 8-5, but then fell to the doubles team of Bost/Anderson 8-5 in the semifinals. Jensen/Ross won their third place match against Nash/Ehrhardt from Simpson 8-5.

The doubles team of Rasmussen/Behrer won their first round match, 8-3 and their second, 9-8. They fell to the doubles team from Coe of Washton/Sebastian, 8-0.
