After not being ranked in the preseason poll for the first time since 1990, Wartburg’s wrestling team comes in at No. 10 in this week’s NWCA coaches poll, which now features 30 teams as opposed to the 15 selected in the preseason.

Two Iowa Conference schools — No. 5 Coe and No. 8 Luther, which was not ranked in the preseason — are listed ahead of the Knights. Loras is No. 15.

Wis.-Whitewater remained No. 1, while Messiah, Wabash and Delaware Valley are ranked just ahead of Coe.

Concordia-Moorhead, Augsburg and Wis.-La Crosse are also ranked ahead of Wartburg in the top 10.

Johnson and Wales, Ithaca, Roger Williams and Thiel separate the Knights and Duhawks.

Four Wartburg individuals are ranked, the most in the Iowa Conference — Luther and Coe have three.

Mark Pinero is the highest ranked of the bunch, listed No. 3 at 149 pounds.

Ben Nagle is No. 6 at 285, Drew Wagenhoffer is No. 7 at 157 and Gerard Roman is No. 10 at 197.
